Personal Note

“Who can ever learn the will of God?

Human reason is not adequate for the task,

And our philosophies tend to misled us,

Because our mortal bodies weigh our souls down,

The body is a temporary structure made of earth;

A burden to the active mind.

All we can is make guesses about things on earth;

We must struggle to learn your will,

Unless you first gave him Wisdom,

And sent your Holy  Spirit down to him,

In this way people on earth have been set

On the right path,

Have learned what pleases you,

And have been kept safe by Wisdom.”

Wisdom of Solomon 9:13-18

Mystics  or  visionaries  are  subjected  to  skepticism  or cynicism  of  the  general  public  and  the founder of  the Holy  Rosary  Mission  of  the  Philippines (HRMP),  Bro.   Ruben,  endured  these  from  his early youth,  for even then he was visited  by  spiritual  manifestations,   which  caused   him suffering and a deep sense of isolation.  He discovered  that  a "healing  gift"   had  been  bestowed  upon  him,  and   he generously shared this with all those who sought his help.

In May 1966, Bro. Ruben, afflicted with a mysterious hemorrhage, was visited by a beautiful Lady in white who asked him to work for the Lord. Reluctantly, he accepted the commands of this Lady, and thus, began his service to the Lord. Giving up his well-paying job, Bro. Ruben started a journey, which continues to this day.

Along the way, many religious helped to encourage him during moments of doubt, and thus, his faith was strengthened and led to the founding of the mission. Among those who helped him were Msgr. Pedro Sison, parish priest of Mangaldan as spiritual adviser, Msgr. Limon, parish priest of Dagupan, and Rev. Fr. Weng Escano, parish priest of Calasiao, Pangasinan.

Then in 1972, Bro. Ruben received an invitation to heal a man in Parang, Marikina, and this served as the cornerstone of the more tangible part of the mission because land was acquired where a chapel under the supervision of Bro. Nestor Barrinuevo was built. On June 2, 1977, the Holy Rosary Mission of the Philippines was registered at the Security and Exchange Commission of the Philippines as a non-stock and non-profit corporation.

His Eminence Jaime Cardinal Sin officiated at the Holy Mass during the inauguration of the Chapel of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary on August 25. 1979. This further motivated Bro. Ruben to listen and follow the instructions he was given through the Holy Angels.

With Msgr. Constancio R. Panlilio, former secretary and vice chancellor of the Diocese of San Fernando, Pampanga, as his mentor and spiritual adviser, and in partnership with Rev. Fr. Gervasio (Gerry) Beronilla, assistant camp chaplain of Malacanang, Bro. Ruben's mission spread nationwide as well as overseas. He visited remote areas in the Mt. Province, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Bicol, Naga, Isabela, Mindanao, and Negros Occidental. In 1982, his mission spread to Hong Kong, and in 1983, to the USA.

Military priests were invited  from Camp Aguinaldo to administer the sacraments to the members of the mission. Among those who came were Rev. Fr. Teofilo Rustia, Rev. Fr. Paterno Gorospe, including Rev. Fr. Tito Aguilos (who chose to spend the last month of his life in the mission).  Fr. Gerry  started officiating  the sacraments in 1982.  During the invasion of Malacanang in 1986, he escaped death and brought out the cup and chalice to the chapel in Marikina. Later, he asked to be assigned as the resident priest of the mission.

On August 27, 1989, a four-story structure was added to the compound in Marikina, where orphans and elderly, the sick and the disabled were housed and cared for. Chapels have also been built in Davao, Mindanao and in San Carlos, Negros Occidental. Numerous patients have also been healed physically and spiritually in the pools beside the chapel in Maasin, Pangasinan.

On November 5, 2001, Bro. Ruben with the support of the HRMP community, started building the Pyramid of the Holy Angels in the Marikina compound. Considered as the answer to the prayers of the poor and the needy, its divine power and energy has already healed patients with terminal cancer, among others. The water system in the pyramid produces energized drink,  and the garden provides aesthetic beauty as well as a source of herbal treatment.
